Master Degree in the Teaching of Humanities and Languages

Program Overview

The Master’s Degree Program in the Teaching of Humanities and Languages, from the Franciscan University, aims to qualify bachelors, teachers and technologists in the area of Humanities, Languages, Technologies and the like in order to amplify possibilities that result ininnovation, transformation and betterment of teaching practices. Thus, studentswill be able to do research and multidisciplinary action work through investigations and practices regarding contents and processes of teaching and learning towards the transformation of teaching in formal, non-formal and informal environments.

Objectives

-To qualify professionals in the teaching of the humanities and languages for research and teaching practice in basic and higher education by means of investigations concerning the contents and processes of teaching and learning in formal, non-formal, and informal environments.
-To qualify professionals in the teaching of humanities and languages to carryout scientific research of Language, Philosophy, Geography, History, Pedagogy, according to the research lines established.
-To contribute with the construction of a theoretical, methodological and epistemological basis in order to provide a pedagogical foundation for the teaching of the humanities and languages.
-To develop a critical capacity regarding the contemporary school practice performed by teachers in order to propose processes and products to qualify and transform the teaching and learning of the humanities and languages.
-To investigate educational approaches based on autonomous learning and technology in the teaching and learning of the humanities and languages.
-To promote research on educational policies and management for continuousteacher education.
-To promote inter- and multidisciplinary activities for strengthening the relationship between theory and practice.
-To encourage a dialogue among teachers and professors for the exchanging of experiences and the promotion of new investigations and/or propositions for changes in teaching practice.
-To encourage the cooperation with other educational and research institutions, both national and international, by means of cooperation and academic mobility agreements that allow the exchange of knowledge and, consequently, the joint production of scientific studies and the socialization of results in national and international events.

Lines of research

Teaching, epistemologies and teacher education

This line develops research on teaching epistemologies, policies and educational management on basic and further education, and in-service teaching practices in formal, non-formal and informal teaching spaces. The analysis seeks to highlight the multidisciplinary dialogue between the humanities and language fields in regards to the teaching and learning processes.

Teaching and learning process
