Program Overview
The course promotes pathophysiological studies on metabolic, dental, neurological and behavioral diseases, as well as researchon education and integral health care. The development, improvement and innovation of health practices, services and technologies employed in the context of the health/disease process are carried out through interdisciplinary activities at the basic, clinical, individual and collective levels in disease prevention and treatment, with the objective to reduce medicalization and to improvethe community's quality of life.
Objective
-To train professionals capable of the development, analysis and scientific interpretation of data that interfere in the health/disease process through the learning and integration of new knowledge mainly from the Biological and Health Sciences.
-To qualify professionals to interact critically in multidisciplinary environments, aiming at the promotion of practices that may lead to health education and promotion, the understanding of the disease process and a betterquality of life for individuals and the environment.
-To train students to be able to develop scientific, original, relevant, competitive and ethical research, with the potential for its clinical and community application.
-To contribute for the strengthening of services and the development of health practices and strategies through technical and scientific evidence with a multidisciplinary view.
-To train students to develop critical thinking in the area of Health and Life Sciences, in order to contribute for the improvement of health practices and thequality of life of humans and the environment.
-To train students to intervene in the determinants and conditioning factors ofthe health/illness process.
-To enable professionals to make better use of new technological instruments and processes that may contribute for increasing quality in the aspects ofeducation, prevention, diagnosis, treatment and rehabilitation of the population's health.
