Education, Research and Extension Program
The Franciscan University associates its teaching and research activities with the demands of society and, as a consequence, produces and socializes new knowledge so that it is not restricted to the academic context. By doing so, it aims to transform the surrounding reality focusing on daily solidarity-based experiences, with policies that link research and academic practices. Therefore, the university promotes extension programs that are integrated with society, thus providing the local population with a better quality of life by means of activities related to different areas of knowledge.
Undergraduate Research Program
The undergraduate research program at the Franciscan University provides an opportunity for undergraduate students to produce knowledge and, as a consequence, it introduces them to scientific procedures in terms of techniques, organization, methods, innovation and how knowledge may reach and improve society. This program encourages students to get started on scientific research, extension and technological innovation. Financial support is provided by the university itself and by funding agencies such as FAPERGS (Research Support Foundation of the State of Rio Grande do Sul), CNPq (National Council for Scientific and Technological Development), among others.
